So, I fly F-22s for the Air Force. I’ve been doing that for about six or seven years. Flew F-16s before that. And so some of the things that become a factor there is really neck, back, lower back issues. Your body is under a lot of forces, so one of the things that really gets you is nine Gs. So, nine times the force of gravity, you think about how heavy your head is, how heavy your arms are, how heavy everything is nine times what it normally is. That kind of pressure can very quickly, I think, exacerbate any pre-existing condition you have. And what got me here is actually I just started having some back and groin and leg pain to the point where I couldn’t walk. So, I came home from a trip and Suzanne was, I think, six months pregnant at the time. And I crawled up the stairs when I got home from the airport, and she had to carry my bags up the stairs. So, my pregnant wife was carrying the bags up the stairs, and I couldn’t walk. That’s the point I came to Dr. Ryan just to… I said, “Okay. I don’t have any other choice here, I figured out a chiropractor might be able to help out.” Within a couple of days, I was walking fine. Within a week, I was mostly normal, within two weeks, the pain was gone.
I just got back from a deployment for a year where I didn’t get any chiropractic care for… I got home, got a little bit of care. So I had six months stints without any care and the body just degraded in those six months stints. And it took him a couple of months when I got back to really get me back to really feeling normal again, no neck pain or back pain, that kind of stuff. So, really that consistent care, that consistent pressure he can provide to counter the forces I’m dealing with really helps a lot being a fighter pilot and in dealing with technical aspects of things. I like the fact that it’s really the physics of my body. It’s very well-tailored to what he’s seeing out of my body that day. And then he has a whole bunch of different tools it seems like he can use and it’s almost not the same treatment every day. It’s very focused to where he finds the weakness if you will. And I think a great example of that is my dad, who he’s got a chiropractor back home, but he came and watched Dr. Ryan adjust me one time. He just happened to be in town and we walked out and he was like, “Wow, he is a technician.” He just was very impressed with watching how he read my body and what needed to be done and then was able to just focus right in on what needed to be done with all the different tools he has available to him if that makes sense.
Within maybe the second or third time I came in, I got a bunch of business cards from Dr. Ryan and I went to the squadron and I was passing them out to all the guys saying, “Hey, I know you all have neck pain, go see this guy. He’s truly phenomenal.” And I could get chiropractic care on base. I choose to pay out of pocket to come here. That’s the level of commitment we have here. We’re willing to pay for it because I think it’s so much better than I would be getting on base and we trust them to get the work on us. They worked on Caleb and James, our two boys when they were a couple of weeks old and it takes a lot of trust to let somebody do that. And they’ve been phenomenal, they really helped the boys. We love the Whole Family Chiropractic, we love the Dehouskies and we love the entire staff. It feels like family when we come in here.
