Rakia Harris

Rakia Harris

Office Manager and Financial Administrator

I was born in Boston, Massachusetts and moved to Alaska with my family at the age of 6. I love calling Alaska home, my husband and I have 4 amazing children; Kayla, Jalen, Jaron and Isaiah who we refer to as the Fab 4.

When I’m not busy with work and the family, I enjoy time with friends, exploring nature and catching a movie here and there. I’m actively involved in the Anchorage community, as a member of our neighborhood’s school PTA. Being involved in my children’s school is a huge priority, as a PTA member it allows me a voice to suggest change and help support them. I am also a Damsel in Defense rep. which allows me countless opportunities to educate, equip, and empower the women of our city.

For the last ten years I’ve been more behind the scenes of healthcare, working for the fiscal agent for Alaska Medicaid. I enjoyed a variety of roles during that time from call center, provider trainer and quality assurance manager. With all of my knowledge and experience I am excited to join the Whole Family team. I’m happy when I make the next person smile, and I look to forward to meeting all of you!

Assistant Office Manager

I was born and raised in Southern California and have always had a need for adventure. In August of 2013, I loaded up my tiny Honda with all of my belongings and spent three days driving and enjoying the gorgeous drive up the Cassiar. I have been having a blast learning the ways of life in Alaska and exploring all of its gorgeous lands.

Growing up my family had always seen a chiropractor, but working here has been my start at chiropractic care. From the day I first walked into Whole Family Chiropractic I was instantly impressed with how each person on the team genuinely cared about every patient that walked through the door, and I am incredibly thankful not only to be a part of that team but to be a patient here as well.

While working at the clinic you can find me in the financial office assisting Rakia with all insurance and patient financial situations. If I’m not in the office I’m typically at the front desk training or assisting the ladies up there. Don’t forget to pop your head into our office and say hello every once in a while!

I look forward to meeting and getting to know each and every one of you here at Whole Family Chiropractic.

Front Desk Assistant - Check-Out

I was born and raised in Wasilla, AK. My parents bought a piece of land, cleared it and gradually built my childhood home. Most of my childhood memories include making forts and playing in the woods under the midnight sun. Lots of camping and fishing. My dad worked for the Alaska Railroad on the so we took a lot of road trips and train rides all over Alaska visiting him at work. I lived in Spokane, Washington for 4 years and gained a lot of knowledge and life experiences along the way. I am the youngest of three girls and I spend most days with my niece and nephews as I have no children of my own, just my fur baby.
I was in Track & Field and Cross Country in High School and continue to compete in various races throughout the year. Running is a big part of my identity. My favorite spot for running and hiking is Hatcher’s Pass, Palmer. My parents got married in Hatcher’s Pass so it holds a special place in my heart.
Working here is the start of my chiropractic care. From the first day I walked into Whole Family Chiropractic I felt that I belonged here. I look forward to coming to the clinic every day and don’t see it as ‘work’. I am excited every day to be part of each person’s healing journey when they walk into the clinic. I am at the Front Desk so I am one of the first and last faces you will see when coming into the clinic.
I love putting a smile on everyone’s face and look forward to meeting each and every one of you!

Spinal Rehabilitation Assistant - Technical

I was born and raised on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. I grew up spending most of my time running, hiking, and kayaking. After graduating High School in 2013, I moved to Anchorage to run NCAA Track and Field at UAA. During this time, I was able to run for four years and achieved the honor of becoming a two time All American and five-time conference champion. I specialized in the 200 and 400m sprints but also ran the 100m and relays. Most importantly, I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Physiology, with double minors in Athletic Training and Nutrition. Whole Family Chiropractic has been a great fit for how I view the definition of health. We love working together to make sure you and your family can live life to the fullest. You can find me working in the back, with Tanor, as the Tech Chiropractic Assistant.
I look forward to meeting you and introducing you to traction and our awesome massage tables!

Spinal Rehabilitation Assistant - Therapy

Having been born a 5th generation Alaskan I’ve been raised to love serving my community, with one of my favorites being right here at Whole Family. I have 2 Sisters Lila, and Jordyn and an older Brother Willie. In my spare time, you can usually find me as a fixture in any one of the gyms here in town where I spend a good majority of my time. When I’m not hiding out in the weight room I’m usually out Coaching one of my two Alaska All-Stars hockey teams full of incredibly talented young women who have represented us in regionals these last few years and earned a place for them at nationals. Among this I enjoy skating and playing hockey myself, as well as hiking, snowboarding, hanging out up at the lake in the summertime and just taking road trips (usually to go fishing).

I’ll be the one working in the back with Mary-Kate as my Partner in Crime as I handle more of the PT, Rehab, and At Home Exercise assignments. You’ll usually hear me long before you see me as I’m usually laughing and cracking jokes while keeping you accountable and motivated on your path towards a Whole, Happy and Healthy Lifestyle. I am incredibly excited to meet you and look forward to getting you on your way to a better you. Make sure to say Hello and come with a Smile, and don’t worry if you don’t have one, one will be provided by yours truly.

I have been an Anchorage resident since moving from Colorado when I was two years old. I graduated from the Career Academy in 2007 and have worked as a massage therapist in chiropractic clinics ever since. Since twelve years of age, I have battled with chronic migraines and had found temporary relief through massage therapy and chiropractic care at other clinics but it wasn’t until I went through two phases of specific Chiropractic BioPhysics spinal rehabilitation with Dr. Ryan Dachowski that my body’s ability to heal itself really began to manifest.

I began with Dr. Jessica for my initial examination and treatment for my short-term goals. After I achieved maximum relief care with her, she referred me to Dr. Ryan based on what she found on my x-rays: my cervical curve was facing the wrong way after a fall off a dirt bike and other injuries. Dr. Ryan explained that the abnormal position of my neck was putting enormous tension and strain on my spinal cord and was most likely the cause of my migraines.

After my first treatment with Dr. Ryan, I felt like the weight had literally been taken off of my shoulders. Although it had become “normal” for me to turn my entire body when putting the car in reverse, I could now look backwards by just turning my neck alone! I also noticed that my “clumsy nature” that I once attributed to being tall was becoming non-existent as my balance improved.

Dr. Ryan explained that the structure of my spine determined the function of my body and because my spine was out of alignment, I was having trouble reaching my maximum potential. As we took a look at a follow-up x-ray, I was able to actually see that my curve was improving, and at the same time I was feeling the positive effects as the health of my organs and muscles also gradually improved. I had less problems that I thought I would just “have to live with” the rest of my life. I was so excited that I was on the right healing path–finally!–that I was inspired to further my education and become more specialized in mirror image and myofascial trigger point release techniques, not to mention to start work at Whole Family Chiropractic.

After two phases of care my migraines are virtually gone, and when I do have them they are much less intense and over much more quickly. I don’t have to take time off of work from the pain anymore and I can truly enjoy hiking, fishing and camping in the Alaska wilderness with my husband Mark and our two dogs. I have fun in my life more and I’m currently working on getting my private pilots license. I know we can help you make your quality of life better too and look forward to seeing you at Whole Family Chiropractic.
