Sports Injury?
Find Relief.

Sports injuries are a significant risk for all athletes and no sport or activity is immune from the potential for injury.

Whether it happened on the practice field, in the gym, or even when warming up for the big competition, sports injuries are always a threat to any athlete attempting to be the best they can be in order to help their team win. I know this firsthand, as I started as a patient with a debilitating injury after I was blindsided by a hit, that I didn’t even see coming. I was able to use chiropractic to not only get me back to health, but I was so impressed with the results of my healing, that I realized that being a chiropractor is now my sole purpose. And being able to provide a better life for as many people as I could, was now my own life goal. Now, regardless of the area affected or the weakness discovered, the goal is always the same, “Doc, help me get back on the field or back to my passion in life as quickly as possible and help me to be stronger than I was before.” Our philosophy is to not only help you get better but also help you be better than you’ve ever been. Our focus is on rehabilitation and strengthening to make certain you are ready to achieve your goals and that the injury won’t return and prevent you from doing what you love.

Essentially the most common reasons that cause an athlete or a weakend warrior to seek care from our office, are injuries involving the head, the neck, back, shoulders, and lower extremities. But not all athletes come to us just for injury management and recovery. Some actually will visit us to see if we can help them optimize their performance and function at a higher level without having any pain. The most common cause of poor on-field performance or sports injury, pain, and disability that we see in our office is related to something called subluxation. When the spinal bones shift from a normal healthy alignment, they place stress and strain on the nerves, muscles, and ligaments. Moreover, they compress our joints and discs leading to a compromised posture and spinal structure. If you are looking to take your game to the next level, or if you have an injury related to subluxations in your spine, we will develop a personalized program of care to restore your health and get you back to what you love doing most. This will consist of advanced corrective care adjustments, postural rehabilitation, home care, and in-office physical therapy exercises, and an array of other interventions. So to start your road to recovery, enhance the strength of your body and get back to living life on your terms with the help that you deserve, pick up the phone and call our office or click on the link below.

The road to relief

Starts Here

You can do your best to warm-up, stretch, and execute the ideal technique in your movement patterns, but they still can and do happen. In our office we have seen that there are many ways in which injuries can occur such as during the game or practice, warming up, or even in the gym training for your event. Sports injuries affect elite athletes, scholarship All-Americans, high school conference champions, pee-wees, benchwarmers, gym rats, and even the weekend warriors. No sport or activity is immune from the potential for injury from yoga and martial arts to Cross-fit and Tough Mudders, to snowboarding and skiing, to a pick-up game in the driveway, and even the monthly water aerobics or motocross.

At Whole Family Chiropractic, we are a sponsor for many of the best athletes in the state of Alaska. We have been able to help them get back to the field and their grind to help them do what they love for as long as they choose. In this way, they can decide when and if they ever want to hang up their cleats on their terms and not because of an injury. We proudly support the athletes of the Alaska Football League, AK Spartan Rugby Team, National Level Olympic Weightlifters, Ironman Triathletes, Boston and NYC Marathoners, Top Finishers in Alaska’s Gold Nugget, Fireweed 400, Lost Lake, and Mount Marathon Races, Cross Country Runners, Basketball All-Stars, Softball Teams, Professional Hockey Hopefuls, Arnold Classic Amateur Strongman Competitors, National Level Gymnastics Competitors, and some of the strongest Powerlifters, Bodybuilders, and Fitness Competitors in the State among many more.

With so much exposure to so many different sports and training styles that our patients engage in we have been fortunate to witness and assist in the recovery of many different injuries to help our athletes and patients maintain peak performance with a substantial competitive edge. Our passion for helping athletes stems from the fact that the doctors at Whole Family Chiropractic are clinical athletes themselves. They still exercise and train regularly and have been competitors in their various sports of choice for years. To understand these injuries, it is essential to be able to understand the demands of their sport and training styles on their biomechanics, their physiology, their nutrition, and their movement patterns and posture. What better way for our practitioners to do this than to practice what they preach! Not only are they able to inspire athletes to be and do more, but the patients also encourage the doctors and our team with their amazing recoveries and accomplishments.

Some of the best professional athletes in the world understand that maintaining a healthy and aligned spine will keep their bodies working like a well-oiled machine, elongate their careers, and avoid debilitating injuries that could sideline their dreams. There is even a designated chiropractor on nearly every professional sports team due to the beneficial impact on keeping the players and athletes performing at their best. Teams understand how chiropractic can impact their overall health, wellness, and athletic abilities leading to less injury and more success.

Whether you spend your time behind a desk for eight hours a day, sit in front of a television to relax, lift grocery bags and children, make the wrong move in the gym, sleep in the wrong position, or are out of the field chasing after victories, your spine needs to be in alignment and performing at its best all the time. Traumas on or off the field are a form of physical stress that can result in shifts in the individual vertebra of the spine or whole curves. These shifts are called subluxations, and they can dramatically impact pain, fatigue, recovery, performance, and health. If left untreated, a misaligned spine – whether it’s a small kink or a postural deformity – can lead to aches, low energy, and other severe conditions throughout your body. These conditions result from the fact that whether it occurs instantly or overtime a misaligned spine resulting from a sports injury can put unnecessary and dangerous pressure on your delicate nerves in your neck and back, creating pain and diminishing vital nerve energy from reaching your limbs and organs. Eventually, your organs will start to show signs of dysfunction and go into a state of disease.

One of the most effective ways to realign the spine back to its normal curvature and ensure proper nerve flow to your vital organs to maximize your health and your athletic potential is through Chiropractic BioPhysics, the most researched and proven corrective chiropractic care technique in which our doctors at Whole Family Chiropractic specialize. These techniques will consist of passive therapies to help reduce inflammation like a cold-level laser, spinal adjustments to restore appropriate biomechanics, structural rehabilitation, physical therapy, vibration plate exercises, functional training, and sports-specific interventions.

If you are not on the field, in the moment, or doing what you love, then we will help you get there. Call today to see if you are a candidate for our advanced spinal corrective care therapy and other procedures to get you healing and back where you belong.

Chiropractic BioPhysics®

Why Corrective Chiropractic Works Better

Unlike regular chiropractic that mainly focuses on immediate pain relief, Chiropractic BioPhysics® goes one step further to also correct the source of the problem. That’s why most patients under our care not only report relief from pain and discomfort but as their posture begins to align, they notice other conditions clearing up as well.
