It is truly an understatement to say that pregnancy causes many changes in a woman in a very short period of time. The mother’s body is literally commandeered on a roller coaster of hormonal spikes, bodyweight increases, unusual cravings, annoying sleep positions, and emotional tornados over a period of nine unpredictable months. But in the end, when the pushing has stopped, when the sweating and straining is no longer required, it is all worth it when the birth of your beautiful baby occurs, and they’re placed on your chest for the first time. Then you have the ability to look into their eyes and welcome them into the world, and into your family.

Pregnancy is also a very special opportunity for an unbreakable bond to develop between mother and child. Despite all the beautiful and magical moments that can occur during pregnancy, feeling the baby’s first kick, hearing the baby’s heartbeat for the first time, and sharing the exciting news, one of the most common things that can distract a mother during this cherished time is an unexpected health condition or frustration due to unrelenting pain, and discomfort. My advanced pediatric and pregnancy diploma training has provided me the opportunity to work closely with hundreds of expecting moms from the community, and allowed me the first-hand experience to help them overcome a wide variety of symptoms and types of pain. Many of these women suffer from conditions including migraines, carpal tunnel syndrome, rib pain, sciatica, round ligament pain, pubic bone pain, swollen feet, and even heartburn and constipation.

Whether it’s the debilitating sharp lower back pain of getting out of bed, the pounding and throbbing migraine that prevents you from going to work, or the pain and swelling in your hands that make it hard to get dressed in the morning, there is no reason that any mom should have to suffer these or any other health conditions during an exciting and fascinating time in their lives. In our office, we know that these symptoms of pain and the health conditions associated with them are common during pregnancy due to a number of reasons.

The most understood and recognized cause of pregnancy-related pain that we see in our office is related to something called subluxation. When the areas of the spine, particularly the lower back and pelvis, shift from a normal, healthy alignment and the posture weakens and slumps as the baby bump gets larger, stress and strain are placed on the nerves, muscles, and the ligaments. The compromised posture and spinal structure compresses the joints and discs as well, creating the inflammation that many pregnant mothers experience as pain.

In addition, these subluxations may result in prolonged delivery times, greater pain during labor, and a higher risk for complications. If the health condition you are experiencing or the pain from your pregnancy is related to subluxation, we will develop a personalized program of care to restore your health. This will consist of advanced corrective care adjustments, partial rehabilitation and strengthening, homecare exercises, and an array of other treatments. To begin your road to recovery and make your pregnancy more tolerable and comfortable for you and your baby, while building bonds and making memories, pick up the phone and call our office or click on the link below.

The road to relief

Starts Here

All mothers-to-be are ‘Wonder Women,’ and they need to have their bodies as healthy and as strong as possible to handle the physical, emotional, and mental rigors of pregnancy, childbirth, and the variety of new post-partum responsibilities to come shortly after. The fact that the woman’s body changes so tremendously during pregnancy, on the outside and the inside is truly an understatement.

The fact that the woman’s body changes so tremendously during pregnancy, on the outside and the inside is truly an understatement. Some of the events that occur are welcomed and expected, but some changes are far from desirable and are completely unwanted. A few of these include; increased pressure on the discs and soft tissues of the spine leading to the nagging pain in the back or down the legs, postural changes to counterbalance the effects of a growing midsection resulting in burning tense muscles around the pelvis, hot flashes associated with hormone spikes, the many mood swings that change from moment to moment, various food cravings on any given day, swollen feet for what seems to be no apparent reason at all, night sweats and even night chills, stress and headaches, roller coaster energy levels, unexplained numbness and tingling, and many more. However, in the end, every mother knows that all of the trials and tribulations are worth it in that magical moment when the new little life and bundle of joy is welcomed into her world and her awaiting arms. Fortunately, at Whole Family Chiropractic, we are equipped with a well-known and nationally recognized advanced certified doctor specifically trained to assist new mothers in having the best experience possible with the lowest amount of complications when it comes to their pregnancy and labor, her name is ‘Dr. Jessica’.

Dr. Jessica Dachowski is the only doctor in the state of Alaska who has achieved simultaneous certifications in a Diplomate in Pediatrics and Pregnancy, and Chiropractic Biophysics (CBP) advanced spinal rehabilitation methods. If a healthy pregnancy is your goal, then she would assist in fulfilling your need as a quality pre-natal resource to help you to achieve optimal health and healing during this critical time of growth and development. With two young children of her own that she was able to carry to term and birth naturally in her home without complications, she understands what struggles a pregnant mother is up against. She also understands how being under regular quality chiropractic care during the process can result in a higher likelihood of achieving the outcome that you truly want.

She knows firsthand the joy of experiencing the first kick, the fun of the selfies showing the growing ‘baby bump’, and even the nervousness as the big day approaches. Also, she recognizes that it is not uncommon for the mother’s body to feel wholly commandeered during the course of the pregnancy and she can empathize with new mothers and can connect with their struggles as well as their achievements in unique ways that involve a caring reassurance and knowledgeable, trustworthy guidance. She is quick to help the mothers receiving care from her to understand how they can make their bodies stronger and more prepared for the birth of their baby. That said, she has also participated in difficult pregnancies to assist various mothers when the pregnancy has involved known and even unforeseen complications such as abnormal baby presentations, invasive delivery methods, unusually long delivery times, and much more.

At Whole Family Chiropractic, Dr. Jessica has set a new standard of excellence in the community when it comes to caring for pregnant mothers, and as a result, our clinic thoroughly understands the needs of the ever-changing body of a new mother. We have developed specific protocols and interventions that will ensure that all body systems are functioning correctly at their highest capacity especially the musculoskeletal system, reproductive system, and most importantly, the nervous system. If you are pregnant and your body structure or posture has shifted from a normal and healthy position, then nerve interference can result and may create unwanted complications during pregnancy and the birth process. In our office, we examine the mother for postural and spinal subluxations. These subluxations are deviations in the individual segments of the spine or shifts of whole-body regions that can lead to nerve stress, inflammation, pain, organ dysfunction, and a weaker, unhealthier body.

Through an individualized protocol of care involving specific spinal adjustments, postural exercises, and nutritional support our prenatal care plans are focused on correcting and improving these spinal subluxations. In doing so, our patients can experience reduced complications, less pregnancy-related pain and discomfort, shorter delivery times, a decreased likelihood of experiencing premature contractions and back labor, and even a reduced need for any dangerous or toxic medications. At the same time, this promotes a healthy sense of well-being through the ability to enjoy more intimate bonding time with your baby.

Our team at Whole Family Chiropractic will help you to get your spinal misalignments corrected, take the pressure off of your delicate nerves, and allow your body to be strong and healthy to maximize the pregnancy and birth experience for you and your family. The results we can witness in the many Wonder Women who seek care in our office on a daily basis are often nothing less than phenomenal and life-changing.

Call today to see if you are a candidate for our advanced pre-natal spinal corrective care therapy and other procedures that will make your experience happier and healthier.
