In a healthy spine, when viewed from the front or back, there should be a straight alignment from the base of the skull down to the tailbone. Scoliosis will make the spine look like an “S” or a “C.”
The most common form is Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis (AIS), which is typically identified in children and teenagers during periods of growth. The term “idiopathic” means that the exact cause is unknown, meaning there is no clearly defined reason why the curvature develops, although it may progress if not properly monitored or managed.
